Remedial Massage
Remedial massage provides a healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow. When muscles and tendons become damaged, impaired, knotted, tense or immobile, remedial massage provides an effective healing treatment. Remedial massage holistically treats the whole body and traces the discomfort as far as possible back to the original cause, healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms. If you haven't ever experienced a quality remedial massage, we thoroughly recommend it.
Myotherapy
Myotherapy is a clinical form of massage and soft tissue therapy that uses a range of treatment techniques including massage, trigger point therapy, stretching, corrective exercises, cupping, dry needling and clinical assessment to treat pain, stiffness and dysfunction of the musckulo-skeletal system.
TENS
TENS is an abbreviation of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. Transcutaneous means "across the skin". In simple terms, a tens machine stimulates your nerves via an electrical current through your skin. A TENS machine is an electronic medical device.
A TENS machine may assist you in modest short-term pain relief.
Myofascial Dry Needling
Dry needling is a treatment technique in which a thin filament needle is inserted directly into a trigger point within a muscle. This is aimed at releasing tight muscles with the goal of permanently reducing muscle pain and dysfunction. Trigger points are localised areas of muscles that have become tightened. This results in tenderness of the muscle and effects the way the muscle functions, as it is unable to lengthen and contract like a healthy muscle. Dry needling is often used alongside other modalities to maximise the effectiveness of a Myotherapy treatment
Cupping
Cupping involves placing glass or plastic jars on the skin and creating a vacuum by suctioning out the air. The underlying tissue is raised, or sucked, partway into the cup. The purpose of cupping is to enhance circulation, help relieve pain, remove "heat" and pull out the toxins that linger in your body's tissues.
Thermotherapy
Thermotherapy consists of application of heat utilizing hot rocks, crystals or heat packs and/ or cold (cryotherapy) for the purpose of changing the cutaneous, intra-articular and core temperature of soft tissue with the intention of improving the symptoms of certain conditions. Cryotherapy and thermotherapy are useful adjuncts for the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and soft tissue injuries. Using ice or heat as a therapeutic intervention decreases pain in joint and muscle as well as soft tissues and they have opposite effects on tissue metabolism, blood flow, inflammation, edema and connective tissue extensibility
